The Pioch is situated in the Languedoc-Roussillon.  Not on the coast, but about 80km. to the north, in the mountains of the nature park the Haut-Languedoc.  This is an area where there are 12 different biotopes created by nature and 3 huge water reservoirs created by man.  In less than 10km you can do all of the aquatic sports.  Here on our grounds we had a small lake built as big as a football field. It is used for fishing and recreation.  The Pioch was a farm where both cows and sheep were kept.  In the 1950s it still gave work for three families who could earn a meager living.  The main building, shown here on the picture, is still the heart of the Pioch.  Now it is a sheep farm with vacation cottages and a small camping with 30 places, on a total of 46 hectares. We live here since 1987 in the white section.  In the first part of the main building we have made two characteristic apartments (Gîtes). Further, we have cottages that we named Maisonnette, Pavillon, and for the second year a wonderful Chalet, a good choice for comfort and price.  In a nutshell, a small enterprise, but with many possibilities:  we make meals, have the baker come each morning with fresh bread, and a small store where you can buy almost everything.  To explore the area there is a book with hikes that you can take starting from here.  You can also take hikes guided by us, to see the most beautiful small paths through woods and mountains that you can’t discover yourself in the short time that you have here.  For more information about prices, special offers, and news about the Pioch, we direct you to the other chapters that all you have to do is click.
